The London Irish Centre is committed to keeping people safe and connected through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Every day, we live our lives more and more online, and this move has intensified and accelerated through the Covid pandemic.

So much of our work, friendships, entertainment, connections and access to services happen in a digital world, through a mix of devices.

Sadly, many people have been left behind in this fast-changing world, without the equipment or training to stay connected and informed.

Digital exclusion affects millions of people, many of whom are already amongst the most disadvantaged in our society.

In response, The London Irish Centre and partners have been funded by the Irish Government and the London Community Response Fund to make tablets, devices and training available to keep people empowered.

The Centre is also making available KOMP one-touch devices which have been developed specifically with older people in mind, to ensure that their access to the digital world is safe and easy.

These devices and training will make possible crucial connection with friends and family, empowerment through online shopping and improved access to essential services.

Digital exclusion creates additional problems for people already experiencing poverty. For example, creating and sending CVs, applying for jobs, and applying for Universal Credit.

The Digital Inclusion Project includes:

  • Volunteer-run 1 to 1 I.T support and education for people who need it. Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer your skills and knowledge
  • The provision of new tablets to individuals and families who need equipment and training
  • The provision of brand new KOMP devices to individuals that have no technology experience
  • We aim to provide training on CV building, Microsoft Office programmes, online security and safety and mobile banking, through our partner organisation
  • Provision of up to 3 months of free internet
