Come and learn to play Irish songs, airs & tunes on the wonderful Tin-Whistle. A short summer course suitable for Adults who have not played an instrument before. We believe that Irish music is social music - playing and learning in a group is plenty of fun and there are opportunities to play at our community events at the London Irish Centre & beyond.

The whistle course for Adult Beginners was designed by Kathy Walton back in 1988 for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA). Now in it's 31st year, over 1000 adult beginners have progressed from the course, whistling & tooting airs, ballads, marches, waltzes, jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas and many, many more. We use a simple six-hole whistle in the key of D & you do not need to read music to learn traditional songs & tunes. We use modern & old-style resources such as handouts, letter notation, tape, voice & phone recorders, YouTUbe, sing-a-longs & dropbox audio & video to name a few.

Our teacher, Kathy Walton has over 30 years experience teaching Adult Education in Traditional Music, the last 25 years as resident tutor at The London Irish Centre. Qualications include BA, TTCT, Community Education & Learning, Musicians Without Borders.
