Come and learn to play traditional Irish songs, melodies and tunes on the Tin-Whistle. A new class starting in 2019, suitable for adults who have not played an instrument before or for those who may have played a little and wish to improve. We believe that traditional music is social music - playing & learning together in a group is plenty of fun and there are opportunities to join our community music events at the London Irish Centre and beyond.

The Whistle course for Adult Beginners was designed by Kathy Walton back in 1988 for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA). Now entering it's 31st year, over 1000 adult beginners have progressed from the course whistling & tooting traditional airs, ballads, marches, waltzes, jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas and many more. We use a simple, six-hole whistle in the key of D along with modern & old-style resources such as sheet music, handouts, tape, voice & phone recorders, You Tube, sing-a-longs, dropbox audio links to name a few. You do not need to read music to learn Traditional Music. For any more information, please contact Kathy on [email protected]
