The new London Irish Film Club series will launch on April 26th and run fortnightly throughout our Spring/ Summer season! We kick off a reel of films with 'One Million Dubliners'.

A landmark site in Ireland’s heritage and for present-day Dubliners alike, Glasnevin Cemetery holds a crucial place in the country’s past and present.

As director Aoife Kelleher takes us on a visit of the burial grounds, she also depicts the different activities and characters that populate the graveyard – from the florist shop to the tour guide and with Michael Collins in between. With smooth crane shots sliding through the tombs, this deeply emotional film is enhanced by its stunning cinematography.

By meeting visitors, historians and employees of the Glasnevin Trust, this documentary provides an all-encompassing outlook on the importance of the cemetery as a resting place for the key players of Irish history, but also reflections on loss, grief and the business of death.

This screening is presented with the support of IFI International as part of Culture Ireland’s GB18 initiative, and Arts Council Ireland.
