This course will provide people with a general introduction to the Irish language. Students will learn about sentence structure, the basic rules of pronunciation and are introduced to the three main dialects.

The course aims to help students become familiar with the language, build vocabulary and learn to hold basic conversations, understand simple listening activities and read simple texts. By the end of the course students should be able introduce themselves and briefly describe where they are from, their family and their pastimes and more. Basic grammar will be taught but the emphasis is on helping people to understand the language and feel comfortable speaking it in a relaxed environment. Students will also learn a little about how the language influences the use of English by Irish people and explore some cultural topics such as Ogham and Place names.

This course is perfect for people who want to start from the very beginning.
