What We Do
Our welfare advice service provides free and confidential advice and support to Irish people in need across a wide range of issues; from housing and accommodation, to employment, debt and benefits. This is a vital service for the Irish community in London, with the Centre handling over 13,000 enquiries in 2013 alone.
We can help with:
| Moving to London, including obtaining a NI number, seeking employment, finding accommodation and claiming benefits
| Benefits advice, including Irish pensions
| Employment advice
| Housing advice
| Returning to Ireland
| Obtaining Irish birth cert and passports
| Referring and signposting to further services
Our advice service also receives a large number of enquiries from Irish people who are moving to London. To assist with these enquiries, we have published a Moving to London booklet, which covers many of the practical issues which should be taken into consideration before making the move. To read or download Moving to London please click here. There is also a whole section of our site full of information about moving to London.
“We only came to LIC for advice on getting a national insurance number, I cannot believe what they did for us and we are really grateful, we could not have stayed in London for long without the help we got . Everyone we met at LIC were welcoming, understanding and professional” James and Declan, newly arrived in London
