Artist in Residence - Jun 2016

We are delighted to host Irish actor Karen Cogan as artist in residence through June 2016.

RADA graduate, Karen, will be developing and rehearsing her new piece 'The Half of It' with award-winning Irish Directot Cathal Cleary in preparation for a performance at RADA Festival 2016.

'We are delighted to be able to support the development of new Irish work by London-based artistic talent, especially work that is interesting and specific to our community as that which Karen and Cathal are developing. I look forward to seeing the end product.' Gary Dunne, Director of Arts

Karen will also be delivering a community workshop as part of Céad Festival on Jun 25th.

Nora doesn’t go outside. Ever.
She’s mad about people, from a distance.
She spends her days in a controlled routine of television, phonecalls and staring out her front window to the strangers below.
Today someone comes knocking, who could send her world spinning out of all control.

The Half Of It is a new play by Karen Cogan, RADA graduate, Artist In residence at the London Irish Centre & co-founder of OtherFoot Theatre Company, whose first play ‘For The Birds’ was longlisted for the BBC Writers Room and IdeasTap awards.

Directed by Cathal Cleary. Cathal was the first Donmar Warehouse Trainee Artistic Director and won the JMK Director's Award 2011.

Credits as director; Disco Pigs (UK Tour), The Last Yankee (Print Room), Disco Pigs (Young Vic), Women of Troy (Mountview), Appointment in Limbo (Dublin Fringe), The Cripple of Inishmaan (Town Hall, Galway).

Credits as associate/assistant director; The Vote (Donmar), The Winslow Boy (Old Vic), Privates on Parade (MGC), Timon of Athens (NT), Detroit (NT), The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Young Vic, Irish & UK tour) and Twisted Tales (Lyric).

Performed by Karen Cogan.

2016 Artist in Residence at the London Irish Centre. Theatre work includes  Fiction (Fuel Theatre), The Only History of Lizzie Finn (Southwark Playhouse), Playboy of the Western World (Old Vic),  Portia Coughlan (Old Red Lion),  Proof (Everyman Palace Productions).

Film and television credits include: Christmas Candle, The Look Of Love, and BBC’s Waking The Dead.
