Case Study - Building Confidence & Skills for Older Irish in London
We've been running a Digital Beneifts & Budgeting Course for tha past few months.
Here's nice case study from one of our students.
A learner who had behaviours and symptoms described as Asperger’s disorder joined the course. He was depressed with extremely low confidence and had become isolated at home. He reluctantly joined the ‘Digital Benefits and Budgeting’ computer course, after being encouraged by the Welfare Advice Team at the London Irish Centre. He attended every session and made new connections in the community. Through signing up for email and social networks, he found out about events and activities happening in the community for people with Asperger’s disorder, and has become more active and engaged; reducing isolation, while learning new computer skills.
As an outcome of the computer course, this learner recently used an iPad for the first time, to order a Christmas gift. He confessed that this would have been impossible for him to do before the computer course at the London Irish Centre.
