Returning to Ireland

London Irish Centre staff work closely with both the Safe Home Programme (www.safehomeireland.com) and the Aisling Project (www.aisling.org.uk) in helping long-term migrants to return to Ireland -  in some cases for short visits and in others to make a permanent move home.

We handle regular enquiries from people wishing to return to Ireland permanently, with a growing number in recent years. We help clients through the application to get on to the Safe Home waiting list, and in some cases deal directly with the Irish local authorities in the area to which the client wishes to return.

“In recognition of the unique role played by our emigrants, economic refugees, who left these shores, many unwillingly, and whose remittances sustained the Irish economy and were our original ‘Celtic Tiger’ the Safe-Home Programme seeks, with support of the booming Irish economy, to repay the just debt owed to those who, in their twilight years want to come home.”
