We operate Outreach services for older Irish people in North London, with dedicated case-workers for Kilburn, Camden and Islington.
Through focused, proactive case-work we aim to achieve the key dignities of life for older Irish people in London:
- adequate housing
- adequate income
- access to healthcare
- access to social opportunities
Typically, when someone is referred to us, our Outreach Worker will visit them to get to know them and identify their needs. Those needs will then be assessed and the Worker will discuss the available options.
The Worker will proceed to carry out an agreed Action Plan to ensure that the client’s needs are best met. In some cases, after completion of the casework, it may be possible to have a befriender assigned to the person, in conjunction with the London Irish Centre’s befriending programme.
We ask people to remember that our Outreach Service is very busy and that there is constant demand for casework assistance.
We accept referrals from any source: from the person who may need help, from relatives, friends, GPs, social workers, and statutory or voluntary sector services.
