‘From the Candy Store to the Galtymore.’

From the Candy Store to the Galtymore, a new book of personal memories recalling the halcyon days of the Showband era on both sides of the Irish Sea will be launched in the London Irish Centre in Camden on Wednesday, November 22, at 7.30pm.

As well as containing several first-hand contributions from the London area, the book also has a poignant story from singer Margo, in addition to London memories created by Larry Cunningham, Joe Dolan, Brendan Bowyer, Eileen Reid, Dickie Rock and more.

This night of nostalgia presented by contributors to ‘From the Candy Store To The Galtymore’ will celebrate the Showband era experienced by Irish emigrants in Britain, following a high volume of interest from the UK.

The launch will feature readings and reminisces marking the magic of a time from the late 1950s to the 1970s when Showbands transformed Irish social lives in both Ireland and the UK.

Copies of ‘From the Candy Store to the Galtymore will be available to buy at a discounted rate on the night.

This is a FREE event but advanced booking is essential
